Why this exists

Almost everything written about coworking is produced by people selling desks. That is not a scandal, it is a structural limit. An operator cannot tell you that the mornings on their floor are loud, that the meeting rooms are gone by Tuesday, that the thermostat belongs to the landlord, or that the cheaper space fifteen minutes closer would suit you better.

Those are precisely the things worth knowing before you hand over a card, and they are the things this site tries to describe.

The building is half the story

Workspace writing usually stops at the furniture, which is why so much of it is useless. The reason one floor is a pleasure and another slowly drives people out has very little to do with the chairs.

It is daylight and whether the plan wasted it. It is ventilation sized for a density the building never anticipated. It is acoustics in a room built entirely from hard reflective surfaces. It is a thermostat governing two aspects at once, or a climate system on a timer somebody else controls. And above all of it, on a great many top-floor creative spaces, it is a roof whose condition nobody thinks about until water has already been travelling through the assembly for a season.

What you will not find here

Rankings, affiliate links, sponsored reviews, or lists of the best coworking spaces in cities nobody here has worked in. There is a great deal of that already and most of it is written from press releases.
